Timing alignment 700

I sent this before but it did not post. I found the problem on my 1987 740 i just purchased. It is missing about 4 inches of teeth on the belt. I did try and start the car several times before i found this. Upon inspection i found that the crank pulley is not turning on the belt. If i do attempt to replace the belt myself how do i line up all the pulleys for the correct timing?? Are there marks on the pulleys and block??
