Blown fuse; stalling 700 1988

I haven't heard from anyone, so I took it to a non-Volvo dealership because I knew the service manager. There was a short in the AC compressor, which was fixed. He could not diagnose the stalling problem at his shop. Anyone have any suggestions how to keep the RPM's from falling so low it stalls when I must brake fast or put in the clutch?
