I have used steel rims from 240s on my 87 740 GLE to replace the crummy mag. rims which leaked. I did have to drill a hole in the rims to let the guide pins go through the rims if yours has guide pins. You could also remove the guide pins. The 240 rims are the size you mentioned, at least they were on my 1980-1983 240s.
