Caught a rust spot, what to do? 700

Question: I've sanded down, smoothed out, and covered the area that had rusted out in an anti-rusting agent. I just want to close it up temporarily, and check on it every now and again until I can get it to a body-shop. I don't want to cover it in Bondo as that'd make a mess when I take it to the body-shop this spring. I don't anticipate driving it that much between now and then - maybe around town or something, and I'll pull up the seat every couple weeks to see what's happening and clean it up again. I was wondering if duct-tape could hold it temporarily so that nothing gets inside the car. Think so? Any suggestions?
