Update -

Tonight I found out that yes in fact, the 760's do have an ext amp. I removed mine and took it apart and applied heat sink compound to the inside of the black shell/heatsink where the chips' silver heatsink connects. The old stuff was very thin and little left. I put a LOT back in place and threw it all back together and tried it - it works! No more music cutting out!
