O2 sensor -- original with 158K miles

I am getting 18 miles a gallon with suburban driving. Have already replaced air filter, oil, fuel filters, plugs & wire, distributor cap & rotor, cleaned the throttle body and flame arrestor.

The O2 sensor is orginal, I read in Haynes that on an 89 brick it should be replaced at 50K miles.

O2 sensors cost between from $50 to 100 or so, should I replace it? Will not hurt, but will it help my gas mileage? I am thinking maybe I am running rich...

What do you think?
