TEMP ADJUSTMENT SLIDE LETS GO 700 1986

After releasing your CaPsLoCk key, you can set about replacing the climate control unit. There's good info in the 700FAQ, but basically you remove the long black trim plastic by unsnapping it at each end.
Then some screws hold in the unit. You won't be able to get it very far out, but enough to disconnect some things.
There are two big rubber hose plugs connected to the back. They come off as a unit, and have small "press on" lockwashers on plastic posts. Those washers can be cut, or bent a little to release, and pushed off- or you can break the posts but don't complain to me if there's a vacuum leak.
There's an electircal plug, squeeze and pull it out.
The cable on the bottom is tricky to get off but you should be able to see how it goes. It needs to be unclipped and the end un-bent a little to release it from the temp slider. Don't cut anything or it'll make life difficult getting it to work again.
When you pull the unit in the junkyard, you can cut the hoses and so on, but again be careful with the pins and posts.
Good luck!
