Stalling issue after warm or cold start 200 1987

Hello all,

Over the past few months, when I start my '87 240DL, it starts fine, but stalls almost everytime after putting the car into reverse or drive....it is an automatic. It usually doesn't stall in neutral. After starting the second time, it never stalls and I never stall again until the car has sit for awhile and I go to start again and the same process repeats. It has been doing this for months now!! I've heard others talk of a possible AMM problem?? Please advise!
