My 740 2.3 1990 did it, the engine would die at traffic lights and not start while the engine was hot.
It is probably either radio suprression relay or fuel pump relay. Both are easy to check. Radio relay you can change places with the other relay next to it (I think it was cooling fan relay). If the car still does it, it is probably the fuel pump relay. When the car stops, and if it does not start while hot, try banging the side panel where the relay box is while starting the car. If that works and the car starts, you have to change the fuel pump relay- was pretty cheap on internet.
