Brake light problems!!! Need help 200

Have you changed the bulbs recently? When I purchased my 89' 244, I had the same problem...but where BOTH brake lights would go out when I stepped on the pedal, with my lights on. My CHMSL would also illuminate at a dimmer setting, along with the taillamps. Turns out, the previous owner put the wrong bulbs in the taillamps. Once I changed them, things went back to normal.
