I can only suggest you clean the fuse connections to make sure there is no corrosion causing the terminals to heat up.
If these are in great shape, then I can only guess that the motor is either going bad, has bad bearings, or the vanes are being fouled by the housing somehow. If you can get back in to the motor you can determine if it is able to spin freely- possibly you can hear whether it comes to an immediate stop or if it coasts for a few seconds when you turn it off. Any of these things would increase current load.
Till you can get into it again, I'd suggest not running it on High...
