I just picked up a lightly wrecked 1983 760 GLE at an auction..#8 for $70 total... got to looking at it, a little prybar work to clear the raditor and the B23 engine fired right up smooth as silk. I thought the second I looked at it that something wasen't quite right and sure enough...found the window sticker in the glove box and it says it came with a Dual over head six, someone did a nice swap.
So what I'm wondering is ...was this a huge undertaking? I'm thinking that a nice car with a bad six cylinder would be a lot easier to find than one with a bad Red block, and seeing as I now have 2 "spare" b230's and 2 B23's...
Engine swaps are not something I do a lot of but, if this is a fairly straight forward deal..I'm always hunting for a nice Body If I can find one cheap, and a Volvo with a bad engine in this neck of the woods would be CHEAP. My actual bid on this one was $30 the rest was "Buyers fees" so Imagine what I could get one for that Didn't run.
This is NOT something I'm ready to do just at the moment so I don't need step by step just yet...It's 5:30 am and I'm just toying with some ideas...and wondering..."Huge ordeal, stay away?"... "BTDT Not that bad?" that sort of thing.
Thanks
Bret
