I have not had a Volvo starter problem in 30 years with 140s and 240s. They wear like anvils for the most part. No call for used ones either, they never sell for anything on Ebay or Brickboard. What I am saying is, your experience seems highly unusual to me. I do not think Volvo starters (Bosch) are frail.
