Here is what I did about 30 years ago but there has to be similar products out there now.
I went to Sears and bought some of their bathroom carpeting, very cheap. This had the rubber backing and a short pile, no shag carpete here even though it was the 70's. I used the rubber mats as the templates to cut the pieces and double sided tape to stick it down. When they got dirty, I just put them in the washing machine. Color selection might be a problem but I had a light blue PV so a dark blue carpet look pretty good.
