What are some of the reasons causing it to run too rich?? 140-160 1971

I've messed with that one screw the weber has for such an adjustment (I think it's the idle mixture adjustment), but it doen't seem to do a thing. Other than having it re-jetted (it ran fine for years so that would be frivolous), is there another way to tune this carburettor? I guess what I'm asking is, are there any Non-Carb-related reasons it would run rich?
