CPR question 200

A gummed up/dirty CPR causes the CONTROL PRESSURE above the fuel distributor plunger to stay high thus making it harder for the pluger to move. This usually results in VERY HARD COLD STARTS but normal driving once the car has warmed up. If your getting misses at idle with the engine cold I would suspect a clogged up CPR/air leaks. The clogged up CPR does not allow the plunger in the fuel dist. to move up high enough to richen the mixture when the car is cold. Also the restricted plunger has to fight more to get more fuel in the car so if you have any air leaks between the AIR SENSOR PLATE & the INTAKE VALVE the air is going to take the easy way out (or I should say in) and go through the bad seal, gasket, or hose rather than fight a plate to get into the engine. If your car is missing regardless of temperature I would suspect AIR LEAKS rather than just the CPR.

To recap:

Bad or clogged CPR makes cold starts/idle rough on the car as well as your brain.

Air Leaks cheat the Air Sensor Plate of the movement needed to properly add the right amount of fuel into the car thus it will give you a bad idle on a cold or warm engine.

Good Luck!

Sincerely,
