radiator durablilty and risks

You are long overdue for a new radiator. The plastic side tanks eventually fatigue anc crack, leading to sudden loss of coolant and major engine troubles. That having been said, I am still a fan of the Volvo OEM radiators: they are very well-constructed, are light, and the aluminum cores do not corrode. Nissens makes a good clone of this (from FCPGroton) for much less. The metal units are good if you do not use Dexcool.

When you replace the radiator, replace all the other cooling system hoses and valve as well.
