cleaning/testing IAC 501 700 1986

It makes sense that the IAC 516 wouldn't work, but I hoped maybe it was just a geometry setup I could workaround, not a substantive difference.

How would you recommend cleaning an IAC 501, just to be sure it was as good as it can be (I'm assuming they can be cleaned)? Any tests you'd recommend.

I'm changing the coolant temp sensor (under 3rd intake) tomorrow as well, on the recommendation of brickboarder VolvoSteel.
