Great photos Randy! M- don't neglect a deliberate and careful seating of the motor into the gear recess. It is possible to screw it down without seating it fully and it should drop down onto the mount posts is it is lined up correctly. Then too, there are other failure points for the speedo, on the circuit board with the motor, and with the wiring to the motor, but that was working when the teeth of the odo were shorn off so dual simultaneous failures are rare. At least you have a good gear and speedos without gears are not expensive, should you need one.
