Replacing blower motor – should I replace resistor? 200 1983

I’m getting ready to replace the blower fan in a ’83 240GL. As I shop for fan motors, some places want to sell a kit, which includes motor, resistor and switch. Others sell the motor separately. The existing motor is dead, my question is, should I replace the resistor or just the motor? What are the resistance values and is there a test method?
