MPG 140-160

I get about 16mpg in my 1972 142E. My driving is comprised mostly of country type roads where you drive nonstop but only at 45 mph. I drive little in the city, is this right? If not, how do i preform the MAP sensor suction test (I know it is with my mouth)? How do I check the prongs on the computer under the seat? What kinda of figures am I looking for on temp sensor #1 (outside air?) and #2 (coolant?)? Is there anything else I can do to improve the mpg, these figures suck on my wallet!
