front light removal 700 1987

Hi Erik
You'll need a philipse screwdriver, a 10mm socket with extension and ratchet and bandaids for your knuckles. After removing the 2 clips per side that retain the plastic headlight trim, you use the screwdriver on the stainles bezel--called the headlight door--that holds the bulbs in. The marker lamps are held in by two 10mm nuts, accessible from under the hood. The longer turn signal lens is held in by 10mm nuts likewise, only they're pain to get to, being just above the bumper and just out of convenient reach from above. You can go crazy and remove the whole headlight adjustment assembly but I wouldn't bother. I'd suggest you simply remove the plastic trim (two clips per side when you open the hood, pinch and lift them out)and the marker lens. There's a gimp (a gasket around the lens--I think gimp is the auto industry term) that can be removed, and a rubber pillow thingie that sets above the marker in the fender, just pull it out. Pull out all the door seals while you're at it, trunk seal too, door trim, anything out can get out of the way. Be sure the painter sprays upwards in certain areas so that the downward-facing surfaces along the belt line get paint on them. Have fun. I hope it looks good when you are done!
Steve
