Here we go! 444-544

Well, here it begins! I will soon be given a pair of pv 544's, to hopefully become one good car. the good one, a '64 sport, was parked ten years ago when the owner lost the gas cap key. The floor is now shot. He picked up a '62 parts car, less engine and transmission, but it was soon flattened in his barn by the Seattle snowstorm of '96. It's got a decent floor pan. Anyone done this job? I've been saying I want to learn to weld...I have a little experience with everything but interior, but I had a thought...maybe 50's-60's style volkswagen door panels and seats could be modified to work on a 544? What have others in the group done about rusty floors? I haven't taken out the carpet yet, but from the "crunch" my foot made when I put pressure on the floor, it's beyond por-15. I would like to do a thorough, albeit ammateur restoration a a pretty much nonexistant budget, so any and all suggestions are welcome.
