Well, if it is an consolation, think of you 16 valver as an already tricked out non-turbo base brick. I am not even sure if a free flowing exhaust would help since you have to be careful about back pressure changes. I don't know but the engine may be tuned to need a bit of back pressure. It depends on the valve timing overlap and whatnot. Would Volvo skimp on the exhaust after all that work on the intake and the head?
