do I have to work on the shims when I put on the vxcamshaft?

This is a semi-related reply to the thread as a whole, really...

Being as I have been considering this cam as a future upgrade, what would be involved in the valve tuning? Hell, how would I go about learning to do the install and figure out the specifics on the valve clearances? just manual turning to check for cylinder collisions, or something far more efficient?
