Hi,
First thing I did in the the morning (after few failed tries accompanied with distributor turning) was removing air filter to have better acces to the carb. Guess what? My precious started like on second attempt. First with some trouble then started working more or less regular. Ok, I thought, maybe connection to the oil trap was making some harm. I've connected air filter again without connecting oil trap. She started with troubles, then with bigger troubles and then didn't want to start. Strange thing, especially air filter is shiny new, the same model it was before, its box is also clean and shiny. I removed it all, engine again worked good and started on first attempt. I looked at it and thought I will remove the only thing I've added - hand made gasket between carburator and air filter box. It seemd crazy to me, but when I put air filter with its box back, just the way it was a minute ago only without a gasket, engine started on first try. With some troubles keeping itself on idle but this is only carburator regulation matter and influence of the time engine wasn't working I think. Also there is an exhaust to weld (better yet - to change) :) and high voltage wires with distributor cap need changing. I've connected the oil trap hose back again and everything was working. Why? I don't know. I shaped gasket precisely to where it belongs, it wasn't clogging anything just sealing the air intake. Now engine works on new spark plugs (smoother than with old ones), starts on first attempt without touching gas pedal even when it gets colder in the evening. Oil seems to be cleaner and there is less smell of fuel in it. I took her on a 3km ride and even if the engine stopped few times when it was on low revs everything was working and I'm starting to like her even more than when I first saw her :). Just few minutes ago I went to her, sat inside, started the engine and listened to it a bit. Despite of the noises made by the holes in exhaust it was working quite good, even smoother than when we were on the ride. Sure, carb will probably need rebuilding or replacing, I'll find some more surprises as it happens with 20yr old cars, but I think we're gonna be friends.
Thanks again for your advises.
Bosozoku - I'll probably have a closer look in the future but seems to me that this one have hydraulic ones. Just by the noises I've heard when she started for the first time today (like throwing out some air) and the fact that knocking from the 4th barrel dissapeared. Maybe I'm wrong, will see when I'll be changing valve gasket.
Trev29 - Thanks for all your tips. I've found this red thin wire and indeed it was loose. Now battery light works without a problem. I havn't found ballast resistor though. There is just nothing on strut hump of passenger side. Have any photo of how should it look, and what should be connected to what? Maybe will find it placed some other place. As for the pedal you're probably right with sticking on carb. Was just coincidence it happened when engine started. Anyway gas pedal works rough most of the time, will have to tak closer look at it. Thanks.
Best regards also to Tbags and Ezap, as you see it finally worked.
I'm glad you paid attention to my problem. You can be sure I'll post some more questions here. Hope to have my Volvo in working condition till next friday when I have some plans of a longer trip for her.
