Valve ticking...normal? 700

Yes Sir/Maam i can hear the ticking with the hood closed and even standing a few feet away. It almostsounds like a diesel motor at times. I trust this mechanic though and I guess I just have to assume that older cars (with out hydraulic valves) will make more noise. It runs great and there are no other strange noises or smells (burning, etc.). Thanks, Joe.
