760 T vibration SOLVED

Over 2 years ago I started troubleshooting idle vibration that had everyone stumped. Fuel system was maticulously gone thru. valves adjusted. timing belt replaced. mas air. O2 sensor, air intake valve all replaced and didnt help. Replaced motor mounts, replaced transmission mounts and the car STILL vibrated in idle. It got to the point, I didnt want to drive the car anymore. Took it to the neighbor mechanic to fix exhause noise and they discovered the 18 month old transmission mounts had failed as well as the muffler and 2 seams in teh exhaust pipe. They replaced trans mount and muffler under warrenty since they did it. After these 2nd new mounts were installed the car vibrated so bad I draged it into an import car repair. They suspected the transmission torc converter. But what they found astounded me. 2 years ago our friendly local auto shop replaced motor mounts with the WRONG variety. They installed SOLID mounts and the dealer ( now i know this) recommends HYDRaulic. When hydraulic mounts were instlled this car is PERFECT. With all the work I did, this car runs like NEW now.

So word to the wise. Dont let a small town friendly general automechanic do work on your volvo and be sure to use HYDRAULIC mounts if they need to be replaced.
