Boost Pressure 700 1988

Whenthe car was delivered the machanic is supposed to check and set the boost pressure between 6 and 8 psi. Do you think a flat rate machanic is going to get out the gauge and hook it up to make sure it is at that pressure? I worked at the dealer and they used to love that work as they made good money on those.
If the car ran and had boost that was usually good enough for them. also ahving the boost lower helped rasie reliablity. There are two ways to raise the pressure, one is to shorten the actuator rod on the wastegate. this is probaly not a good idea as it has been in one plave for many years now and runs the risk of having the rod break off from the wastegate, requiring a new wastegate. The other is to use a Dawes device, this device allows you to set the boost to any levl by simply adjusting it after it is installed. They are not expensive and allows easier boost adjustment than the actuator rod.
