240 wiper motor electrical

got a "new" motor from eeuroparts.com - a RONAK motor (44.90-free shipping) that had definately been in a vehicle before (black sealer goo around shaft - other oily dust in crevices, only one whole grommet and a half grommet in the box - the motor has lots of gunk left on from the casting - cheap -

i plug in the old connector and the motor only works when selector is on fast - at no other time does it work - i check my wires at harness with multimeter and am confused by the results i see and what i am able to get the motor to do by using jumpers

are there any variations on the placement of wires into different motors - the plug fit fine in one direction as expected -

what is proper position of the 4 wires into wiper motor?
mine are: green, brown, yellow, and black/white striped
as they go into the motor looking at motor connector i have:
WHITE/BLACK upper left, BROWN upper right, YELLOW lower left and GREEN lower right

BTW - i opened up the transmission cover and it was oilier and dirtier than my old one
the plastic shield from original is cardboard on the "aftermarket/OEM quality"
