hood release cable 700 1990

My hood latch was working greaton the Volvo but my Pontiac Grand Prix hood release was broke so I decided to get it fixed and the same day I put the Pontiac in the shop the Volvo 89 740 hood release broke. I can hear it moving around the latch but it will not open. Now I have to put it in the shop.Now I really need to check my fluids as I saw some tranny fluid on the ground and it takes a few minutes for the car to catch (slipping). Really Frustrated.
