I'm afraid I can't offer $40K of advice on the bad idle problem.... My 71E has always idled perfectly - reading other threads on idle problems lead me believe it has to do with a working cold-idle circuit as much as anything else. I do pull the trigger often on checking and cleaning the spark plus.
I am interested in the advice on dash cap installation - when I finish the cash out refinance of my house......
