I find with my car, it all depends on heat and starting speed. Sometimes, when I turn the key, it cranks 2-3 times, starts, jumps to 1000 abouts and the drops down a bit. On warmer days, I turn the key and the car barely cranks once before it is running. When this happens, I don't notice a jump to 1000, it just kinda idles.
