FWD vs. RWD value holding ...

Yes, the RWD's lost value, as nearly every car does. Compared to the competition then, however, they did not lose it as fast as how these FWD ones are losing it these days.

The current market conditions is one reason - new car discounting means that all used cars need to be discounted too to sell. Still, it's hard to deny how much the newer FWD's have lost their value. We're talking cars that sold for $35k+ just 4-5 years ago, now selling for under $10k. A drop of 75%+ of its original value in this time period is high.
