The transmission lines to and from the radiator are prone to spring a leak where they are clamped onto the bell housing. If your chunk of tire hit near that clamp, the small leak may have become larger.

That leak can be repaired without getting new lines, which are - BTDT - a PITA to install. Look in the archives or FAQs for help. Needs some small diameter fuel line or other strong tubing, and small clamps.
