AW71 differances 87-91

I have a 91 740Ti, its gearbox blew? Atleast I think it did, it won't move in any gear, park doesn't even hold the car still. And starting the engine I hear a noise from the box... Anyways, someone has offered a box from a 87. Will this fit in my 91? What differances might I find? The only thing I know for sure is it won't have the cut out for the SPeed sensor in the bellhousing. But I figure I can swap the bellhousings to fix that.

Any idea's, suggestions?
