PS - Other than fumbling with mismatched components (check part numbers before trying to cross-swap parts) it wasn't terribly difficult. I had to buy one new tool to get the large snap ring off the output shaft. I was able to get all the things drifted off that I needed to tapping with a board and a heavy hammer. Nothing put up too much of a fight, and once back in the car all 4 syncros worked and no funny gear noises. And it doesn't try to pop out of any of the gears. So I guess I'd score it a success.
