Kickdown cable causing shifting problems? 200

Yes, when the kickdown cable sticks it won't change gears, hence the high revs.

If its terribly rusty you'll need to replace it. If its just sticky, lubricate it. When mine stuck I removed the rubber cap, pulled the cable out as far as I could, greased it up and let it go. I haven't had the problem since.

A hit of Wd40 down the inside of the cable probably would help as well.
