Bad 02 Sensor

89-240 80,000 miles original owner. I am on my 5th 02 sensor, that last between 1000 to 5000 miles. The car is very well maintained. My Fluke meter showes .04 volts output when bad. A strong smell of gas is present in the Vac Line between the FPR and the manifold. I installed a clear hose line in its place and there is no sign of gas. HELP!!!
Thanks Tom

P.S. My 87 has the original 02 sensor.
