idle problem 200

Is there any chance you're watching the idle with the A/C switched on? Is there any chance your A/C microswitch has fallen apart internally? For an automatic transmission, normal idle (not base idle) for a B230FT with the A/C on is 950 rpm which on a dash tach may well look like 1000 rpm. Additionally, that is for a fully warmed engine as detected by the block temp sensor. That can be aggravated by wiring harness problems due to decayed insulation -a well know problem with mid-80's 240's.
