You need special gear to pull the piece out with doing damage to the lock mechanism, and its best to let someone who knows what their doing attack it. Sure you could figure it out with some practice, but do you want to practice on your own car?

One item is like a screw bit thing to slip down by the bit and grip it for quick pull out (think of a piano wire), another is a strong lock tweezer, etc.

Just best to let a locksmith tackle it. In the meantime find the spare key and have another duplicate made.
