I've installed a boat load of the Volvo conversion kits, did one today on an '88 760, and I have always gone by their posted amounts and never had a problem. The one I had today was 2lbs., I stuffed it in and the pressures were choice and the A/C blew cold. I find most cars on the market today take aroung 2 pounds and Volvos are the exception, they take upwards of 3 pounds (2.9 on the 200's). I would double check your numbers, make sure they are right per the blue sticker and charge it up. If you have the means to put some U.V. dye in it while you are there I sure as heck would do that too. Should you have a leak down the road it will facilitate finding it and hopefully prevent you from having to pay someone to do a charge or partial charge so they can put the dye into the system so they can locate the leak. If you have already put it in they can just go right to the diagnosis part and hopefully save you a little coin and the tech a little time.
