1973, 1800 es electrical problems 1800

Anthony,

Multiple Electrical gremlins can sometimes be eliminated, if not reduced in number, by cleaning up ground connections. Have you unbolted and cleaned up the braided strap from the bellhousing to the frame rail, and its connecting points? On your ES, the EFI ground on the intake manifold is another common spot that gets corroded. How about the Battery (-) ground to chassis?

If not, I'd strongly recommend doing those, and other grounding points first, then see what's left to trace down.

If one ground connection is bad, some elements of the system will "seek" ground thru another route, causing erratic behavior.
