Yes, tool 5284 works with the aftermarket harmonic balancers. I had a 1986 760T on which the slots, in the harmonic balancer, were too small to the teeth on the tool. I used rope in number 1 cylinder for that one.

I use the aftermarket harmonic balancers. They sell for as little as $60 US.
