Not coming back down to idle 1800 1973

May I also suggest sticking advance weights in your distributor. They move out as revs increase while driving but due to accumulations of goo the springs cannot retract them thus advance remains high and so do RPMs. It's amazing just how important a good distributor is to a properly functioning motor. George's suggestions are all excellent, too.
