Examine the wire going to the solenoid. I'll bet you a cold one that the insulation's frayed, and when you hit a bump, it shorts to ground. This draws excess current and burns the copper trace.

Do they look like the pictures below?








Easy to repair. Be sure you resolder the entire printed circuit board.
