I've tried a wide variety over the past 33 years on my 164 and haven't had
an unqualified success. One of the better things I have used is the foam
adhesive you use to stick stuff to walls. It lasted about 5 or 6 years.

Ford dealers have an adhesive they use to replace rearview mirrors on the
inside of windshields. I plan to try to get some of that the next time around.
