I hope that you have read the faq's. They have a lot of info.

Could the rattle be in the column? Maybe on down futher where the u-joint is.
I read that these can bind.

I had a lot of stuff going on with my 92 745t front end and done a lot of cussing too. When I finally got all the bushings replaced and a good alignment done - it was so much better. One day I will get new front struts, and that one last knock will be gone.
