Yes I believe it does. If the water stays in the box it bloks air flow and from what I have seen it causes the unit to cycle quickly. When the water discharges the unit runs longer and the car is cooler. Does anybody have a picture of the evaporator box or know where I can get the green book for the air. Thanks

PS Check your floor panels for rust. This problem did a job on mine.
