Remove emergency brake shoes?

Nevermind; I figured it out. The answer is to just keep pulling, hard, and eventually break free of the significant rust bond that had formed (probably at least to some degree as a result of disuse).

Sadly it turns out I was sold the wrong cable for the e-brake, so now all I've accomplished is the transformation of my e-brake from being a bunch of non-fuctioning parts in my car to a bunch of dcecorative parts on my desk.
